"This is me"

6th August 2018

I've always wanted to write a blog, so here I first ever blog entry. I think I better start by introducing myself. My name is Francesca and I am the human behind Frenchie Loves Flowers.

I started my life as a florist in 1999 as a creative 15 year old. I found myself a little Saturday job in my local florist and the rest they say is history. I've always been an academic, so it was only natural I work my way through the educational system, and in 2005 I graduated from Leeds University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Design. Ever since being a little girl, my dream was to design and make wedding dresses, so you could say I have a real passion for design and weddings. After graduating I picked up where I left off in floristry, as I really missed working with botanicals, and it was then I realised my future lied with roses and ranunculus.

In 2006 I decided to leave the flower shops behind, and landed myself a job in a Bank, which couldn't have been more opposite if I'd have tried. But I needed to learn more about the finance industry and also step onto the property ladder so it worked for me. It is here I met friends for life, built up my valuable skills in customer service and management, and grow as a person so that I am confident in my own skills and abilities and I'm not afraid to push boundaries and leave my comfort zone.  But I didn't leave my passion for floristry behind, and through recommendation, I continued to take wedding bookings which I completed alongside my role as Customer Service Manager.

I continued this path until 2017 when Frenchie Loves Flowers was born.....2 years after my first born Franklin was born....and he is the reason I launched my business. I don't know how many of you are mums and dads, but when you have a child, your outlook on life changes....and mine definitely did. I was in a steady, successful job, having my cake and hoovering it down, but I wanted more....I needed fulfilment, and apart from my family, nothing gives me fulfilment in life more than working with flowers. So I did what any sane, responsible parent would do and left my decent job to become self employed. Call me mad if you want, because I did and still do.....but I haven't looked back. I have worked my little (big) behind off and hustled like a mother ship to get my little business where she is today....going from strength to strength and by the end of this year we will have worked with 56 lovely brides and grooms, been involved in 8 styled photo shoots, been a finalist for 2 wedding awards, be featured in a leading wedding magazine, and will have made lots of fantastic new friends, fellow suppliers who work in the wedding industry.

I can't wait to see where this whirlwind takes me and I thank each and every one you for joining me on the journey.

Thanks for reading my first ever blog
